Posted for Jeff Baumal who is in charge of the editing of the new edition of the venerable "The Sword and the Flame" rules. "For the faithful folks waiting patiently for the 45TH Anniversary Edition of The Sword And The Flame, rest assured it is COMING SOON! Please see the work in progress cover art. The cover is being manipulated with AI and not a drawing program at this point, which is a very fiddly process as you can clearly see. The cover needs a lot of work, but IT IS IN PROGRESS as is the last few aspects of the body of the rules. There has been a lot of negative talk going on in multiple forums about the health of the rules set and the Broms. The Broms had suffered a series of horrible defeats and tragedies, yet Christie still soldiers on! Huzzah to her fighting spirit to survive, persevere, and to keep her family's legacy alive. Her friends and those faithful to her, Lori, and Larry will do everything in our power to get these rules out to the public ASAP. Thank you to all those faithful for KEEPING THE FLAME ALIVE! Cheers, Sgt Guinness"

Sgt Guinness: thank you for your update, and for your service in affection to the Brom family, and for a good cause. |

As I posted on their Facebook page, I suggest that they find a reputable dealer to sell these through as the brand is severely tarnished. |

My supply sergeant used to tell me that "lots" isn't a unit of measure. Neither is "soon" a publication date. But I'll buy another copy as soon as someone gives me a way to do so, thank everyone concerned and be glad of it. Maybe two copies. |

All I've seen so far is 5 years of damage control. There better not be another Kickstarter. Not that I got burned the last time, but it certainly convinced me not to touch any kickstarters. I was skeptical of them from the start, and this convinced me not to bother with any. |

I am not directly involved in this republication effort and I don't know what the expected timeline is between now and publication. However, when and if this new edition becomes available for purchase I am very confident a list of headlines for significant changes to the rules will be made widely available to the colonial wargaming world (and anyone else interested) by Sgt. Guinness & his colleagues. |

They should wait a couple more years and make it the 50th anniversary. |

I'll wait and see -- I wish some of the official variants and supplements were included, to make this a more comprehensive set. And I'd want to know how much official errata has been included, how much the rules might have been revised or reorganized, what other changes might have been made, and what a projected timeline for release is. Who is truly responsible for this, in the end? The 45th anniversary has come and gone, for instance (snort). I'd like to see a professional job. And professional commitment. This rules set deserves no less. |
