Having been influenced by Tango (Ah, my Latin 2 with Caesar comes flooding back!), here is a Spoiler Free rundown of why "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms". Yeah, it's Martin, so there is SOME tragedy…

Back up a few decades. George R R Martin was a science fiction and fantasy writer who went to Tinseltown to write for television. He wrote for and "ran the show" for Beauty and the Beast and the successor to the Twilight Zone.
Having been influenced by these things, he became jaded, and had enough $$$ to go back to his first love, writing.
He set off to write A Game of Thrones, consciously choosing to make it "unfilmable". (In that he probably succeeded…) By the time he had written a few books of this unfilmable series, he was approached by Benioff and Weis, boy geniuses. They correctly guessed who Jon Snow's mother and offered him $$$$$.

Thus began the Game of Thrones miniseries. It was good until they ran out of well plotted books, and Martin wandered off. In the meantime he was writing histories of Westeros. And BnW ran the show off the rails. Let's all spit on Season 8, shall we?
Another HBO group did a fantastic job on House of the Dragon. Unfortunately… Seadon 1 killed the only genuine likable character. Season 2 had loathsome characters on both sides, it dragged, and went off the rails from Martin's book.

In between, Martin wrote a novella called "The Hedge Knight". It was roughly 100 pages, and had a likable hero, and winning little kid as sidekick. He writes 2 more sequels.
To the enthusiasm of none, HBO greenlit a 6 episode series to be called A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms.
It is FANTASTIC! See the Drinkers review above.

As usual, the penultimate episode is the climax. The last episode wraps it up.
Seeing a melee through the visor of a helmet was rather unique and great.
This Sunday will wrap up the first Season.
After that, we can discuss Spoilers. Please refrain from Spoilers on this thread. I read the book, so…

For book readers, the showrunners made few changes. They expanded characters, not changing much.

For those who get the vapors over DEI…
Tanselle and Rafe are Dornish. Give it a rest.
