Back in January we played a game of Fistful of TOWs 3. This was a fairly simple scenario with West Germans, Americans and British facing off against the Russians somewhere on the North German Plain in the 1980s.

We had 5 players for the game plus the host/gamemaster running the scenario. The main geographic objectives were 4 small villages plus a bridge in the middle.

Each of the three NATO contingents was controlled by three of the players while the Russian forces were controlled by the other two players including me.

I had a battalion of T-72s and a battalion of BMP-2s. The other Russian player had T-80s and BMP-2s. The Americans had a M-1 Company plus an Apache helicopter unit, the British had Chieftans and Scorpions, and the West Germans had Leopard IIs, Jaguars, and a BO-105 helicopter. The scale for the game is 1/285th aka 6mm.

My T-72s were nearly destroyed by the M-1s with only 1 remaining at the end of the game. I was able to use the woods on the left as cover to head to the town and lost 2 of them to Scorpions and took out the Scorpions in return. I did manage to kill 1 M-1 but my whole battalion was decimated in return.

My partner operating the other Russian forces was more successful on the right and took the town to his front while holding the other one on his side.

It was an exciting game with the Russians awarded a marginal victory but everyone had a great time.

Here are a few pictures from the game.
