I mount my 28"s on metal and store them in containers lined with magnetic sign material. I have been having trouble lately with the 20mm round washers I used. Since they are stainless steel, they don't stick very well. I have been unable to locate non-SST washers at the hardware stores. What I should have been looking for are magnetic striker plates. These are available in a variety of shapes, sizes and thicknesses. The seller cautions about them being prone to rusting since they are non-SST. Rust is highly unlikely in my storage boxes. There are plenty of plain metal bases out there, but no round ones! |

Have you tried galvanised washers? I'm not sure how well they stick to magnets, but they're common in hardware shops here. |

Are you using fender washers? That's what you want, I think. |

For metal figures, I really prefer the 1-inch fenders, but for plastic, I'm fine with wood. 200 for 8 bucks is hard to beat! link |
