I don't think it was something typical of Napoleonic times but rather exceptional, like mob violences as in Naples in 1799, the relation to nudity was not the same in Western Europe than in Scandinavia Russia at that time where you had mixed baths in the villages where men and women children and old together like Adam and Eve, shocking (or not like Casanova and many others…) the foreign travellers, Catherine the Great forbade these mixed baths because they gave a bad image of Russia abroad
in the Medieval Times yes there were punishments like that across Europe to punish adultery, with variations such as the naked woman who must be forced to fart in the middle of a crowd to fully serve her punishment and reach the height of humiliation…

well, will be difficult to find another proof of this event, Glogau was not a small garrison in july 1808 but Corps HQ and troops of several Divisions in the vicinity, there was something like an atmosphere of badinage & libertinage in the air in the camps of Lower Silesia in the summer 1808

Since the 1st of this month, all the infantry of the 6th Army Corps has left its cantonments to camp, some at the gates of Glogau and some near Liegnitz.
Our camps at Guttstadt were pretty, but the one at Glogau is quite remarkable.

A throng of inhabitants of both sexes, from Glogau and the surrounding area, on foot, on horseback, and by carriage, animates our camp and gives it the air of a populous town. It is especially in the evening that the crowds flock there, at the hour when our musicians, grouped at intervals, spread joy among our soldiers.
