Simon and Garfunkel came out way back when I was rebelling against the rebellion. So, sue me! Is there anything more vapid than "I have my books, and my poetry to protect me!"? Or "The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls." My Senior Music teacher was a Nun, who was "with it". 🙄 She had us analyze lyrics. Then they broke up, and Paul Simon came into his own, without dragging that anchor. Me and Julio: "Then the radical priest came to get me released…" Love it! Take that, clergy who can talk to the yoots of today! "I have reason to believe, we will all be received in Graceland." What a great album and music. I seriously believe he had a lot to do with the downfall of apartheid. And without the whiny Garfield. |

GRACELAND is the best song. Of all the songs in the known universe. "And sometimes when I'm falling, flying, tumbling in turmoil" And HEARTS AND BONES done live outside at Hyde Park is the best music video. In all the known universe. |

As to the radical priest, it is indeed gratifying to see the skewering of one who is undermining the very foundations upon which he stands. And in that same vein Dylan gave us: A self-ordained professor's tongue Too serious to fool Spouted out that liberty Is just equality in school "Equality," I spoke the word As if a wedding vow [Refrain] Ah, but I was so much older then I'm younger than that now As writers and poets I would be loath to have to pick between the two; we are richer for them both. But Simon can actually sing his own songs, whereas I must needs go to Joan Baez to listen to Dylan. |

But JOHN, WHAT HAS THIS TO DO WITH MY TOY SOLDIERS!?! (sarc) Like any unwritten law, I suggest one go to TMP's "mission statement" and see where that's a requirement. Nowhere to be found. Whenever I say that, it's indeed sarcasm. I've heard that it's Ionic Greek for "tearing of flesh". So I've heard. I only took Latin. 🙄🤷 Ultramodern is nothing but opinionated bloviating, by both sides, I might add. Myself included. And you, too, I might also add. But I search high and low for any mention of toy soldiers. It's nothing but bored people who think their opinion influences policy in any way. So I ask occasional questions about wargaming, answer questions where I think I know what I'm talking about, and post polls about music, movies and whether the Pancetta I get at Walmart is decent, and where I can get Pecorino Romano. As an Irish DNA chap, I'm clueless about that. Is lobster tail with Pierogi contrary to some law? I ask because it's -2F outside, I don't feel like going anywhere, and that's what I have for Super Bowl dinner. |
