I got a new phone at Christmas & suddenly, with a much better camera, my figures look so much better. I've noticed that some average paint jobs look superb in photos, while some very good figures don't photograph well at all. So—honest question: are you a better painter, or a better photographer? Or do the two skills go hand-in-hand for you? Feel free to post examples and share any tips you've learned along the way. |

Light, more light. That is the answer to most picture problems. |

I'm definitely a better painter than photographer. And JimDuncanUK is right -- even my pictures are better when I remember to get enough light, |

JimDuncan has the answer Even when using a light box I still need extra lighting. Using the flash often bleaches out the colour in the picture Staging the pictures can really help too |

Lighting seems to be the common factor so far. For those who've improved their results—was it more lights, different bulbs, or just moving the light closer? Living in the sub-tropics, daylight particularly in Summer, is usually pretty intense here (as opposed to the midday "twilight" of Scotland) so I don't need artificial light- just open the shutters. |
