Very nice! Sheridan is a very interesting character – stubborn, tough and a person who was not to be trifled with – also a person who didn't hesitate to share his opinions – widely disliked by the locals when he was commander of the Military District of the Southwest post ACW for enforcing Reconstruction – a feeling that was mutual, hence his comment "If I owned Texas and Hell I would rent Texas and live in Hell" – one biography I read about him and his command in the West post ACW said he had the "blend of elastic ethics and ruthless pragmatism essential for a field commander of an ambitious expanding republic"
