It's an important tournament game. Do you: Take the win, express regrets regarding your opponent's illness, and move on Take the win and immediately boast about how you crushed them Take the win and boast about how you crushed them for the next month Take the win and boast about how you crushed them for a year Take the win and plan to boast about it for the rest of your life Couldn't arise as I am a solo Wargamer Other |

Refuse the win, and ask for it to be counted as a draw. |

Good answer- but let's assume that rather than a league structure it's a knockout competition so someone has to go forward to maintain the rest of the tournament. |

Other: Don't play tournament games. Which is distinct from being a solo gamer, though being a solo gamer would be subsumed in not playing in tournaments. Other: Rarely play a two-player game, excecpt against SWMBO, which has no scheduling pressure. Most scenarios we play can flex the number of players. One time we had someone request a specific scenario, then she was sick on game day. We ended up drafing someone who was playing right seat ride on a different game. Ignoring the last two options provided, why would anyone not just take the win and move on? I would probably add watching one of the other games to keep my head in the tourney headspace instead of idling. |

Take the win, express regrets and move on to the next game. Kansas City Chiefs didn't get a draw after Mahomes went down with an ACL. Why should Frank and his Ghaznavid Turks? |

I'm with eto on this. 20th, does EVERYONE in your circle not a solo player do tournaments? But--speaking as an outsider--accept the win to keep the tournament going. Express regrets of course, but that's "just" good manners. The important thing is not to disappoint the other tournament players. If it's the last game of the tournament, you can just say there is no winner this year. By the way, what's an unimportant tournament game? |

John I agree with, "Take the win, express regrets and move on to the next game". Also wish him better health and when he feels better play a non tournament game if possible. |

An unimportant tournament game? Well, the fourth and fifth test matches of the recent Ashes Campaign would be two examples. |

I would rather play the game than skip the game. If the game can not be rescheduled in timely manner that does not break the tournament schedule, take the win. |

Other- I avoid tournaments/competitions. If I had been persuaded to take part then hopefully the tournament rules/organiser would deal with the forfeit. What I wouldn't do is claim a victory, though I knew some who would. |

Stop – Make sure they get help and are safe – its only a game – even if a tournament result would declare you the best in the universe |

In a tournament, you don't "claim a victory". The organizers just note results. |

If I was in your position I would, as Robert stated, take the win to keep the tourney moving along. I have never participated in a tournament and honestly I wouldn't if I had the opportunity. It doesn't sound fun to me. |

Whine and complain to anyone that will listen (and many that will not), about how you were cheated of a glorious victory. Hold a grudge, and tell everyone about your new nemesis, until such time as a proper match can be scheduled. Don't lose. Or, just take the win, express regrets and move on. It's supposed to be fun. |

In a tournament, you don't "claim a victory". The organizers just note results. That may true during the tournament, but I've heard enough bragging about tournament (and non-tournament) games to know claiming victory is common. |
