I have been on Facebook several times. Most times I get fed up and uninstall it. About a year ago I rejoined so I could follow the posting about an impending convention, whose organizers decided to use FB exclusively for communications.

I have 3 friends on Facebook, all former coworkers. I find myself being DELUGED with inane group post emails from them. Is this normal? Is there an easy way to stem this? I am techno roadkill.

Well, you could "unfriend" them. It's not like Facebook sends them an email saying, "HMS Exeter has unfriended you, you worthless scum!" They may eventually realize you aren't on their friend list, but from my experience, that might take a couple months. You might want to have a story ready for them, "I unfriended everybody except my mother," or something that is relatively inoffensive.
Somebody else may post other, more subtle, ways of dealing with this that I'm not familiar with.

I've never had an email from Facebook and I've been using it since it started up.

You need the change your group notification settings in FB.

Google will tell you how to do it.

I'm hoping the particular convention relents and has a website next time 'round. If so, I'll UNINSTALL FB for what I think will be the 5th time.

Thanks to all for the input…

Is that Mayhem and their non-stop wall of convention spam across everybody else's convention and game pages by chance? They are exceedingly annoying in their habits.

You can turn off email notifications from FB, I did that pretty quickly many years ago. Go to Account > Settings > Preferences > Notifications, and toggle them off.

You can also just "unfollow" the group that is hitting you so much…. tends to lower the noise down… Hopefully helpful :)
