Which do you play: WWII (historical) and/or Weird WWII? * I play historical WWII only * I play Weird WWII only * I play both historical WWII and Weird WWII * I play neither of these |

Dumb question. Why ask? (As in many polls.) Only responses are against anything historic I see only 46 hits at the moment. Is the idea to see if there is any enthusiasm to continue any "Weird" WWII forum? Not my thing, but I would be sorry to see those who are enthusiasts excluded |

I'd gladly play either— make it fun, and I'm up for it. However, I don't currently play or collect any WW2, weird or otherwise, at least not on a significant scale. |

Dumb question. Just curious to see how much overlap there is. I have both in my collection. |

WWII only for me. There is enough in WWII to keep me busy for years. |

I would happily play a speculative scenario of WWII. Is Operation Sealion 'Weird WWII'? After all it's a fantasy because it never happened. What about a scenario that assumes the war in Europe continued a couple of months longer and the Western allies encountered a platoon of Maus tanks (Mäuse?) (or some other near-deployed weapon)? That's sci-fi in the sense that the Maus was never deployed in Western Europe. Or does it need zombies, SS necromancers, or Nazis on the Moon to count as weird? |

I used to play Flames of War, but I don't any more. There are those who think it's weird enough as it is… |

WW2 historical only for me. I never really got the appeal of WWW2. |

Historical only. The weird stuff has some appeal but not enough for me to pull the trigger. |

Historical only. The weird stuff doesn't appeal to me. |

Purely out of curiosity, is there generic Weird World War II? Or does everyone fall into the GW trap? That is, the publisher of the rules also sells castings, so from time to time new "must have" units become available and old army lists are invalidated? Or can "Dust" units be used with the walkers and suchlike? |

I used to play Flames of War, but I don't any more. There are those who think it's weird enough as it is… Yep BF seems to have fell right into the what if rabbit hole , probably has a lot to do with their WOT game , which seems to be putting quite a few "FOW" players off . |

I don't play either one on any regular basis, but I did play one historical WWII game this year, as opposed to having never played a Weird War II miniatures game that I can recall, so first or fourth option depending on the clarification that will, inevitably, not be given. |

I collect and play both historic WW2 and Weird WW2. Robert, Nuts! from Two Hour Wargames has generic WWW2 rules. Unless you're a great scratch builder or into 3d design and printing, then you are probably stuck buying models from specific manufacturers. I play mostly Gear Krieg (Dream Pod 9), and have modeled simple conversions by adding Weird War weapons to generic WW2 models with stats all ready provided by the game. I've also repurposed and/or converted other models and designed stats for them. WWW2 has a lot of variety, and you can pick the flavor that suits you best. |

I once played in a WWW2 game at a convention using Chain of Command rules and Dust walkers. Walker's stats were based on armored cars. Fun game. |

WW2 only. Or … mostly. Often, given imperfect information for small unit actions, there is a reasonable dose of "historical fiction" involved. But … I have occasionally done various versions of "what if", mostly around West vs. Soviet 1945/46/47. |
