There aren't enough Franks.
I bought some from Newline but they don't have a huge range. And in "my"scale, it appears that is it.

I'm adding them to my 'Barbarian Conspiracy' army for Late Antiquity. The sand out from the Goths by virtue of their unique hairstyles – top knots & shaved napes & their francesca – throwing axes. I've replaced a number of spears with axes from Tumbling Dice so 1:4 figures have this weapon.

Pity there aren't more figures available.

Frankly, what scale is "my scale"?

Scottishpicker123 was selling quite a lot of Britannia 20mm Ancients – can't recall if there were any Franks or similar Dark Age types listed. Unfortunately he recently dropped his prices then closed his shop about a week ago. Maybe he's just taking a break over Christmas, so it might be worth watching out for his eBay 'shop': auction

I don't know whether Tumbling Dice's Goths would be any good as I've not seen any pictures of that range.

You can see pictures of their Anglo-Saxons on this blog.

Doesn't HaT have a box of 1/72 Franks?

FilsduPoitou16 Dec 2025 10:24 a.m. PST

@OSCS74 I'm guessing he means 25mm-28mm going by Newline's range.

Victrix should be releasing their early Franks sometime next year, though they are on the more heroic 28mm scale.

Apologies for the confusion, FilsduPoitou. I'd forgotten there are other scales than 1/72…there are, aren't there?

Thanks, Billy. I'll look. @ Dave – the HaT figures are awful. Possibly their worst set.

Various metal & plastic manufacturers make decent 20mm Goths but Franks (& pretty well all other Late Antiquity) barbarians miss out.

I don't have, nor want, a printer but thanks, John.

I like the figures in the second link. I'll talk to my 3d printer guy. He lives in Adelaide which means P&P is quite reasonable.
