These tanks are for "safeguarding the country's extensive western frontier", which is Amazonian jungle until you reach the Andes and the borders of Peru and Colombia. Bolivia, Paraguay, and Uruguay, are all more south than west, but their terrain is all tank country, and they're mostly armed with even older tanks than M-60s. |

I got frustrated with all of the bugs just getting the link to post properly that I left off my commentary. I am sure the M60 is still some serious armour in South America. I have no doubt that older armor is there. A lot of countries were still using WWII AFVs 50 years after WWII was over. |

Yes the upgraded M60A1 or A3 is still very useful in many places. Like in South America, some nations in the Mid East etc. They may be a bit challenged vs. e.g. T-90s and other more modern designs. |
