In the 1840s the uniform artist Edmund Rabe published the first series of uniform plates which show the historical evolution of Prussian uniforms for several Prussian troops.

The re-edition in 1884/1885 added some more plates. Today I published 18 out of 20 plates in the uniform portal at link

But please be aware that this series had been done form the 1840s onwards and the artists – although they are well-accustomed to the military – gave no sources.
