A couple of years ago I posted a reflection on Sword and Spear ancient rules. You can see it here TMP link Since then I've played S&S another 2.5 years and probably another 100 games. I've really become a big fan of the rules. One often quibbles with certain features of any rules system but the basic mechanisms in S&S are solid, well thought out and easy to learn. Lucky dice still matter but is less dominate than other systems in my experience. S&S encourages balanced armies and promotes the use of poorer quality troops in a manner that other systems often discourage. Highly recommended after 4 years of play. |
