I want to add grass tufts to my finished/painted sci-fi troopers' bases and was wondering whether to varnish before or after adding them.

So, should I:

a) Varnish the miniature first and then add the tufts?

b) Add the tufts and then varnish the miniature?

Your help is appreciated, thank you.

I prefer to attach my tufts after varnishing. I don't like how the clear paint particles can form on the fibers when attached before spray.

Agree – varnish first, tufts later

By varnish my I assume you mean spray with Dullcoat / flat spray?

If so, I attach tufts first, then spray….
