Do you add moral conundrums to your games? Now up on the blog. link |

For wargames, as opposed to RPG, moral considerations are generally not gamed and the values of the historical persons represented are just acknowledged to be what they were. If this were not the case then it would hardly be possible, for example, to play a WW2 Eastern Front game as the only correct moral course for commanders on either side would be to shoot themselves. If the theme of the wargame is intolerable enough, people just won't (or shouldn't) play at all. Little Big Horn is a playable wargame, Wounded Knee is not. |

Not moral quandries but sometimes give players on the same side different and potentially conflicting objectives – which are not shared Can be interesting – for example, in a Mexican Revolution game giving the various Zapatistas commanders objectives such as capture the town while another is to loot the bank and then head for the hills |

I'm with Eumelus: fine for an RPG, just gets in the way of a WW2 brigade action or a Napoleonic battle. |
