… and don't know it. link I love stuff like this. How did a renaissance dice game term arise again on the lips of 21st century middle-schoolers? Was it intentional? Random chance? The perversity of the Universe— or proof of a logical, deterministic design? (Is it really just a simulation, and the algorithm keeps reverting to certain default states?) Granted, the writer has one bit wrong— 7 is the *most* likely result of 2d6, and 6 (and 8) come next. My guess is that the medieval dice game had 6 or 7 as default "failure" rolls that could not win the bet (or went "to the house", whoever served that function). So surprise your middle schooler by quoting the Bard, and enjoy watching them puzzle over what Dad (or Granddad) pulled out of his head! |

"Teenagers." They've obviously got me beat for typing fingers… Guess I was at sixes and sevens. |

As ghastly as the statement is, I fear it is true. Although we spend very little time on our phones, (as we have stuck with flip phones) we spend more time on the computer than reading these days. Modern civ is crumbling from the onset of post-modern civ. |
