So we are in the line of a category 2 cyclone, may get to category 3 cyclone which is due to hit Saturday. I'm not worried because our house is built to cat 4. My wife and I started preparing a week ago when we saw the weather starting to change so we have enough stocks, emergency gear etc. However, I went to the shop today for something non-cyclone related and saw once again that all the toilet paper was gone, shelves stripped bare and none out the back according to the manager. The same thing happened during Covid. What is it, during a purported emergency situation, makes people need ridiculous amounts of toilet paper? The food etc is still on the shelves but the bog roll is all gone. I shake my head. |

The toilet paper question is one that I have never understood – as you say, is this the highest priority? Hope all goes well and that the storm passes without damage |

I don't know about the toilet paper issue but good luck with the storm. |

When we have a predicted heavy snowfall, bread, milk and eggs disappear from the shelves. In other words, sit out the blizzard with French Toast. Do you get blizzards in Northern Australia? 🤔 |

We went out once during Covid to re-stock. Cart ahead of us was three mega packs of TP and two cases of bottled water. We had wine, bourbon and diet coke. |

This might be linked to some sort of bizarre childhood toilet-training trauma… |

"The toilet paper question is one that I have never understood – " They're hoarding it for the future. When there is an actual shortage, they'll sell it for hundreds of dollars a roll to people who really desperately need it… ;-) |

Toilet paper doesn't need refrigeration, so it lasts a long time. If the power fails, at least you'll have toilet paper. You can use it for a lot of things in an emergency: field dressing, cleaning wipe (just add soapy water), disinfectant wipe (just add alcohol), lens cleaner (just add alcohol), etc. You can even eat it, if you're not fussy and don't need nutrition. We're having really bad weather in the San Francisco Bay Area right now. It's been raining for nearly an hour, and the sky is completely covered by clouds. The temperature has been below 65F all day. It's all so depressing that I'm ready to order a cannabis edibles delivery and re-subscribe to Netflix. |

You have my sympathies. Here it is 37F (feels like 32F). Daytime mainly occluded, the clouds have gone now to allow Jack Frost to play. What are cannabis edibles? |
