Princeton! You were right John, it was in the following episode. Good episode. The disagreement between Gates and Arnold was left out. But who knows it may show up later. Kudos for pointing out that there was probably no stars and stripes flags on the battlefield. |

Yep. Someone owes me some Guineas. 😄 I think they did an excellent job, keeping in mind the time constraints. "Only" 12 hours? I miss a few things that *I* would have included, but you can't show everything. |

I get the impression that they aren't trying for a "graduate level" TV show. So, those of us with specialist knowledge of AWI politics and warfare are not going to see everything that we know already, and would like to see. One of my minor AWI gripes is the ubiquitous Betsy Ross flag. Way back when, I equipped 3 regiments with hand painted BR flags. Further "research" has convinced me that such flags were NOT used on the land battlefield. But, I never took the proud standards away from units that had them. Anyway… The show pretty well shot down the Betsy Ross flag, naming no names. I can almost hear a loud "Harrumph!" from the narrator. For those who ask… The first time the whole idea of Betsy designing the flag came up many years after the war. It may even have been during the 1876 Centennial. Her grandson started the whole story. Not unlike many other stories, where an ancestor did marvelous things. I was delighted to see Gostelowe standards, and the flag of the 1st Pennsylvania. Definitely not BR flags. Plenty of things there, that "specialists" could pick out, like different color British facings. I'm very happy with the show, and I've recorded it all. |

I like how Arnold has been treated so far. He's a brilliant tactician, and fierce officer. So his treason will come as a surprise. |

Aye, an enjoyable episode that must be opening a lot of eyes among the hoi polloi (if I may snidely call them that). Odd to hear so much Scottish bagpiping underscore during Canadian sequences or generic British stuff, but that's what the sound editor wanted. I wish the credits weren't so small or run so fast, I can't readily tell who provided the piping (I'll have to dig deeper). Now and then I can recognize the tune(s) if the narration isn't too loud. I distinctly heard the "Balmoral" retreat march once last night, which a persnickety person might sniff hadn't been written yet. Score!! |

I will probably get the Blu-Ray and soundtrack. I am not going to take away BR flags from my Continental units. But all my new regiments don't have them. I am at a lost of what to replace them with. Right now I am replacing them with Gostelowe flags. But the use of those are pretty sketchy. |

Watched ep. 1. Thought it was good. Looking forward to the battles you all have discussed. |

@Old Contempible Look for Richardson's "Flags and Standards of the American Revolution." |

This has been especially enjoyable as I am nearing the end of Atkinson's The Fate of the Day, a good companion read. |

I suspect it is going to end tragically! (Make of that what you will.) |

I did like the maps, maneuvers, OOBs, etc. of the battles/campaigns they showed. I thought it certainly was well done overall … |
