Greeting fellow gamers,

We are nearing the end of the year, and what a great time for gaming it has been. October was very busy. Last month our GMs ran dozens of epic events Game Hole Con, and Rock Con. We were then at the MMSI show, to fly the HMGS flag. We also found out they have added a "Wargaming Unit" category. Plans are underway to participate in this contest, 2026.

We did a number of books sales. Thanks to all who donated their historical volumes as a result we raised close to $3,000. USD In addition to help fund our operating fees, we invested in purchasing some gaming chairs and tables. This in turn will reduce our future rental costs. The remaining books we donated to the Chicagoland Veteran's Campus, as well as a few other veteran groups. Thanks for your help Jack and Mark. We have the 2026 date for the next sale in the calendar.

Coming up at the end of this month is our final event of the year. These are the 5 Toys for Tots games. Working with Battlefront, Games Plus and Grognard Games, this has annually helped a great cause. For the past two years we have been able to donate over 120 toys for the kids. So if you can make it, any one of the days and times please do, and roll some dice. No time to play? Well you can still be a part of it, and donate a toy. Either come by one of the stores or contact me directly.

We have three projects in the works. One is a completely new event, and two are repeats of successful runs from 2025. Images of War, promises to be an eye popping day (pun intended) with a selection of historical 3D videos and slideshow to partake. More on this later. Also the Civil War Weekend is back and once again we are hosting one of the three Regional Opens for memoir 44.
Chicago Open.

Next, do not miss a couple of stimulating articles on gaming from our own, Bruce Grabowski and Terry Cabak. Do you have something you would like to share? We are always open to posting information for our members, so please submit your writings.

Finally the 2026 Calendar is out. There are plenty of save the dates. Please let me know if we missed something. Also keep in mind some dates may change, so always check the most up to date newsletter.

What seems like a long time ago, the overall complaint regarding being an HMGS-Midwest member, is that all we did was Little Wars. Well based on the efforts of the Boards from the last 10 years we have changed all of that. Now you can see that indeed membership has it's privileges.

Let all have a great Thanksgiving!
See you at the gaming table,

Kevin
