This sounds incredible… but it really happened. Needless to say, I'm truly impressed.

Quite a story! In 1969 I sailed aboard the Submarine Rescue Ship Greenlet out of Pearl Harbor (nothing like that existed in the 1920s). We rescued a sub that had lost power in the Kauai Channel and towed it into Pearl. Fortunately we had good radio communication, so were soon on the spot. Those submariners were really glad to see us as they were bobbing like a cork in a heavy chop!
