Today, I have added another series to the uniform portal. was able to view one of the rare original copies of the 1913 edition at the Berlin Kunstbibliothek which is more impressive than the 2001 reprint. The texts were written by a French author and primarily refer to the formation and war history of the Polish troops from 1807 to 1814.

To accompany these texts, 48 colour plates by the Polish military painter Jan Chelminski are included, as well as several flag plates and five plates with portraits of important Polish officers.

As there is little contemporary material available on the Polish army and even the work of Malibran/Chelminski is unknown to many, I have decided to publish all the plates on the Uniform Portal. You may reach all published plates at link

But please be aware, that the illustrations must be checked critically due to the lack of mentioned sources by the artist and the fact that they were produced about 100 years after the Polish army existed.

Greetings from Berlin

Thanks for the lovely Polish vignettes. They are superbly painted. Also thanks for the caution.
