OK, so your best friend who is a bit of an inventor comes into the pub/bar/coffee shop one night and says he's got a new invention. It's a time machine and it really works as he's been back and forth to try it out. There's only one problem. It only goes back to 1989 and you can only go back for a limited period of time, one whole day, before you automatically return, and you'll find yourself at a wargames convention for the whole day. He says you can go back to 1989 if you want to and you can take one wargaming item from the present day with you. What do you take? MDF buildings and bases? Some plastic figure ranges? Tufts? Rules? |

The latest D&D release, just so the 1989 players can get a laugh at the great parody the future holds. |

3D Printer and resin. I was selling in 1089, so maybe a question more of what do I bring back. Boardgames and miniatures |

1089? Gosh, Rudy. I didn't know you were that old! |

What's the point if I can't bring anything back? And what am I going to pay with? My VISA debit card?! But, solving that, I would load up in all those "true 25mm" figures that are now OOP because the companies folded. |

Why would I take anything back? |
John the OFM | 08 Nov 2025 7:03 p.m. PST |
Because you can't get them anymore. |

Some history books. Currency to make purchases back then would not be made with bills printed in the 21st century- might get nabbed for forgery. Credit cards from today also would be susecptable to getting charged with forgery! (ie: expiration dates, 3 digit codes, etc.) Using older bills that might be in in one's collection makes the cost of purchases more expensive by the increase in value of being old today! But the chance to buy things now out of production would be a strong urge that I most likely could not control! |
