This is the Revell Merkava III from 2003, the sprues have also been boxed by ACE and most recently by Academy. The Merkava MBTs are interesting as the Israeli designers have placed the engine in the forward part of the hull and installed an access door in the rear. These features place the bulk of the engine between the crew and forward threats, and the door allows quick access for the crew or embarked infantry…

So – turn a Centurion tank around(*), put a more compact power unit in the old back – now the new front. Add a glacis over the engine, place the driver between the engine and turret.

Route all the combustables (hydraulic fluid, fuel, etc) outside the fighting compartment.

Wonder what to do with the old front – store ammo and fit a door. Put a portable loo in the back for female crew.

(*) compare position of drive sprocket – at back of Centurion, at front of Merkava.
