"This year I plan to add additional units to my French army, particularly the 1813-14 campaign. I also want to paint up some of my 1805-07 metal figures. I want to paint up a number of white uniformed units, probably a whole brigade at least.

The French Army traded its white uniform to blue during the tumultuous years of the French Revolution, the regulars in white the conscripts in blue. Napoleon attempted to re-introduce the white coats in 1806, their return aroused little enthusiasm. Their use was judged impractical, and within a year the project had been quietly discontinued, leaving only a few regiments in white-coats on the battlefields of Austerlitz, Jena/Auerstadt, Eylau and Friedland, the medley only fully disappeared by 1810…"

I'm not sorry the white uniforms were shelved. Looks too much like Austrians anyway. The Revolution enshrined blue as the new soldiers' uniform for la France.

If you really want white uniforms for your French army paint Westfalians, Italians, Neapolitans etc. Their fates were tied to France and they almost always fought together with France.

Kingdom of italy had given white uniform to line infantry. In my collection I have 3 regiments in this style. I think italy was "forced" to buy this uniform to empty the franch warehouses.

not at all, the old Royal Army Infantry in white, the new National Guard coming from Royal Provincial and urban bourgeoise militias more newly-raised Volunteers Battalions in blue,
the Conscription is not before 1798, obviously they didn't have a specific uniform within their units to distinguish them

Far more more regiments were issued white habits than heretofore believed.
As far as rebranding the Army into a new image, by the time Friedland was fought in summer 1807 most line infantry regiments were wearing a white habit
