His plan seems to have been to take everything up to and including Damascus and use this as an operational based to gather men (any ethnic group with a grudge against the Ottos) and treasure. He would then decide if he wanted to go east and be Alexander, or west and take Constantinople. The latter scenario would see the Brits and Ottomans landing forces on the eastern Med to attack his cities and communications. Would Napoleon ignore these and keep marching on Constantinople forcing the Turks to meet him somewhere on the line of advance. Or perhaps they try to stand siege in the city aided by Brit naval harassment. |

The British navy would focus more on the Mediterranean. No British attack on Denmark.
Too much economic energy on the Eastern Mediterranean.
A lot may depend on a Franco-Russian alliance against Turkey. |
