I hope the reward was worth the effort. I used to get this in the military--and in reading Edgar Rice Burroughs. The very first thing you teach children of priviledge is land navigation--map reading and compass declination. Then budgeting. Only after they've mastered those skills do we progress to literacy. Actually, maybe "giving clear orders" and "accepting responsibility" might also come ahead of literacy. But the supply of lost high-value characters clearly shows systemic neglect of navigational skills. |
