Are you getting your orders for the coming Black Friday sales on November 28 from game stores and miniature manufacturers? (Here in the US, Black Friday is the day after our Thanksgiving holiday.) A) Yes, I'm working on/thinking about my BF order. B) Yes, but my BF order list is ready to go! C) Not yet but I'll start soon. D) No, I'll wait to see what's on sale that day. E) No, I don't bother with BF sales. F) No, my country doesn't do BF sales. G) No money for sale-spending this year. |

No. I suppose it's E. There's some money available, but I'll spend it to fill my gaps when I think it's time, not whatever someone feels like unloading on some made-up schedule. Bitter? Yes. Every now and then I'm going about my regular schedule and find out I can't buy groceries at the local Wal-mart because someone threw a dart at a calendar again. I pay attention to real holidays, but this isn't one. |

Black Friday sales on November 28 Until marketeers and merchants got their hands on it, "Black Friday" meant any Friday 13th of a month. They're trying to twist things and impose the US version here, too, but most people (over the age of 35) are ignoring the hyper-marketting. They recognise it's just more greedy bustards trying another way to get their hands into wallets. So E and 1/2 F for me. |

Technically (almost?) all countries participate. If you can order from one that has them. Once one person has ordered, their country has participated. So it's only the stores themselves left. However, even stores may be getting sale prices on international stock orders. So it's very unlikely for a country not to be involved at some level. |

The correct Black Friday … YouTube link Black Friday was originally coined for a securities market crash in 1869 when Jay Gould and James Fisk tried to corner the gold market and screwed it up royally. The stock market followed in the 20's and 30's with Black Tuesday, Monday, and Thursday. The modern use of Black Friday to denote the busy shopping day after Thanksgiving, where the start of deep discounts for the Christmas shopping season caused massive shopping crowds, traffic, and hate and discontent started in the 50's as a term used by Philadelphia law enforcement (who were also dealing with Army-Navy football game traffic). It became a more common use term for the day in the 80's when there were fights and tramplings related to "big toy" releases (furbies? beanie babies? cabbage patch kids?). It's not a holiday. I didn't realize that people still swamped stores for Christmas (that is, clear my physical inventory before I have to pay taxes on it) shopping season. The one I have done recently is a FLGS that sells tickets to their BF sale (you get a goodie bag of random stuff worth more than the cost of the ticket, MSRP). Controlled tickets with times on them. No chaos. To the OP: D/2 + E/2 Game stores and miniatures manufacturers generally don't offer sales that hit my price point, so I don't bother. I'll look online until I get bored. I have a couple (non-wargaming) big items to buy in the next few months. I'll look online for the bigger temp discounts through CyberMonday and then again, probably after Christmas (when the real sell before taxed pressure hits). I have no problem paying market price (or not buying something if I don't like that). I'm also not above finding a discount. Discount saleing is not a hobby for me. |

No purchases planned for this year. Last year I had waited for the Blacksite Studios sale for some months to buy Lunar which is kinda pricey. |

Pre-Christmas? Sorry, I don't stand in lines any more. (It's a service-related disability.) ALL presents are mailed or ordered to be shipped direct before Thanksgiving. The cards are mailed the Saturday following Thanksgiving, and I can focus on Advent while staying far, far away from shopping malls until about New Years. Sticking points are Walmart because I buy groceries there, and back when I still needed trees I used to hit a couple of places for discounted miniature conifers in the week following Christmas. No discount ever offered was worth standing in line for, and a raffle is a way of paying money without receiving anything in return. As for a raffle with random stuff and "mystery boxes" there's random stuff all over the house, and mystery boxes in the garage. No need to pay for more. |

H) No. Not partaking in the festivities. My favorite line of Miniatures (currently Blue Moon) are owned by Old Glory, and I don't believe they participate. Not a problem for me though as I'm an Old Glory Army Member so I get 40% off all year round ;-) |

Yes. Army card trumps Black Friday. |

Cash is not the issue, but a good deal may push me over the edge. I do have a few items on my wish list from Badger. I just wish they would restock some more bikers. |

I also agree that the Old Glory Army 40% off is a great deal! |

I am looking at D. But my want list is very short currently. I was looking at an upgrade to my Prusa 3D printer, but 58% tariffs killed that idea. |

I too love the Old Glory Army. But this year's purchase was a bag of 10 cavalry. Right now, my entire projected future purchases are about two dozen 28mm SF figures and some associated terrain. Is anyone offering a sale on opponents? Much more helpful than more troops and terrain at this point. |
