Austrian hussars No.7

These fine fellows are Liechtensteins Hussars No. 7 forming part of the Austrian advance guard under GM Nordmann.

I used Hat Brunswick hussars with Austrian infantry head swaps for the rank and file along with Franznap officers and trumpeter.

The sabretaches were constructed by using a print to size picture which was then glued to the blank sabretache.

Looks good. It's fun looking at bigger versions of units I painted previously in 15mm. Hope you have better luck with Austrians than I ever did.

Beautiful looking regiment, they just need a nice shiny gloss coat!

Nice looking unit – and you never do badly with Austrians, cause no matter how bad a lickin' they keep on tickin'

Thank you to everyone for their kind comments.

Further details of the project to date are in the Aspern thread in the discussions section.

No shiny troops for me as I want to try and recreate the event as accurately as possible.

However, I do remember hordes of them fifty plus years ago!

The Hinton Hunt wargamer posts them regularly and to be fair they do have a retro appeal.

Best wishes,

Chris

Excellent work.

I agree Chris,
Even though I'm old enough to remember when gloss was de rigeur, I never liked that look so much. Some people really carry it off but it's just not my preference.

Cheers,
John

I have taken a picture showing the glued on sabretaches, an excellent idea using print to size from a German friend, Egbert.

My printer is not really sharp enough but I am pleased with the result as my painting skill is not good enough to do them free hand.

I tried to do a job lot by copying the copies but this further reduced the print quality so each one was a separate print.

Lots to do .
