Dug-in somewhere in North Africa as a cold morning rises along a barren horizon -

Something I've wanted to do for a long time was to make dug-in squad positions for my desert kit strongpoints. Thinking I could convert some 3mm trench pieces from Total Battle Miniatures for the job, here's how I repurposed those scenics for duty in 10-12mm scale (sort of a before and after sequence below) -

Minis were some Perrin 8th Army figs, cut-off and superglued into the bigger trench 'slots'.

Think they came out ok?

I made 2 platoon's worth, and saved a half-dozen extras …..maybe for the collection's Italians (someday).

They look great! But man, 10mm is too small for my ancient eyes!

Hey, for my eyes too Michael! :)))

I think making the terrain pieces helps "see" the minis sometimes.

Now really getting down in the trenches – like below for 3mm, I gave up on needing to put in any 'bumps' in at all (we can just use our imagination at that scale).

Very nice, FlyX!

Great looking trenches, Foxbat!

Sydney G., thanks Sir!

Pete, TY also, and for that snazzy new handle. :)

Last for the toy show preview before game time, a couple 2-Pdr ATs for the strongpoints.

These are Perrin gun models, with old, seated infantry figs whittled down to fit into the gunner's position.

The detached wheels on the close model are T-34 boggie wheels converted for the cause (a set of carriage wheels should have been part of the kit IMO).

The AT Gun models are mounted on thin metal discs, that attach to the base thru a magnet glued underneath each stand – so I can re-use the battle positions then for other AT Guns.

Tiny, but pretty handy for doing those North Africa scenarios -

I've got no idea where the crews found all that framing wood, but there it is…..

Sorry FlyXwire! I don't know where that came from as we have corresponded on this site for a while. My apologies also to the "real" Foxbat here as well who also does some fantastic work in the naval section.

Oh heck Pete, I'm really bad trying to post in the morning w/o a minimum of 2 cups of coffee first…..good thing there's an Edit button here on the forum, that's all I've got to say!

Very nice work indeed.

Best wishes,

Chris

Well thank you Chris!

I'm looking forward to heading back to the ACW, and so will be catching up with you there soon.

You only get so long so edit your response and then you are doomed. I read your message just above and was impressed that you were thanking the Deity. I read it as "Well thank you Christ". The exclamation mark looked like a T to my tired eyes.

Mind you, I have sought divine intervention out loud before (and not just when I turned over that twin seater years ago). When the decal floats off into the bottom of the hot water mug and then sticks to the side, that is the time and it often works! Can't hurt…..

:)))

Chris will love you invoking his name!

Btw DH, I can imagine you tooling around in an MG TD or even an original Morgan 3-Wheeler…..the last maybe requiring some Devine [investment] intervention to afford?
