Someone who eats my adventures in "Fusion dining" might be considered "adventurous". I made Bolognese Ragú on Monday, using Sweet Italian Sausage as the Pork component. If I had Brats on hand, I might have tried them. ((SSSHHH! Don't tell Vincenzo!)) (I'm Irish. 🙄🇨🇮) I can get at least 8 meals out of this. So, there is THAT, if you want to consider Bulk. |

Man v. Food is not adventure, it is endurance. I just had lunch at a restraunt where I got to try the Laotian take on papaya salad, compared to my regular Thai version. We went there specifically because it was a Thai/Lao restraunt so we could branch out a little. I hadn't eaten there before, so while I ordered spicy, I am guessing they erred on the side of not turning off a new customer. The spicy side of it wasn't really adventurous for me, but it might be for others if it is different than what they normally eat. So, if adventure is trying something new (and thus, exciting), eating a gorge-tonne of food would be a kind of adventure, but in food, I tend to look for quality and range rather than sheer volume. |

I agree with Etotheipi that Man v Food does not define adventure, but more endurance. I was not an adventurous eater until my late 20's. Chinese food was something I would avoid. However. I did some eating competitions similar to Man v Food in those days. (22 pieces of pizza in half an hour or 10 whole jalapenos in 2 minutes with nothing to drink.) That is not adventurous, but competitiveness and challenge. I would say that now I am much more adventurous as to what I eat, Thai, Moroccan, Ethiopian, Brazilian (both north and south) as well as many regional different dishes from America. I just don't eat mushrooms or eggplant because they make me vomit; jaboticaba because of other digestive issues; nor oysters because I worked in a seafood restaurant and am disgusted by them. Other than that, I will try almost anything once. |
