Managed to get in a game of Liber Militum Tercios set during the Russo-Swedish War of 1656. I used ChatGPT to generate the hypothetical scenario "The Road to Narva" which has a Russian force trying to drive out Swedes from a village to consolidate holdings in Livonia.
Russian army under Pyotr Potyomkin
Swedish army led by Governor-General Magnus De la Gardie
The game started off well for the Swedes but the tide turned after round 3 when the Swedes decided on a bit of a foolish counter-attack with their horse.
While the Russians couldn't dislodge the Swedes entrenched in the village, they managed to inflict significant casualties and killed both Swedish commanders to secure a victory.
It was a bloody affair that went very bad for the Swedes late in the game. I really can't say enough positive about the Tercios rules. We finished 7 turns in about two and a half hours and despite not having played a full game in over a year, we rarely needed to look at the rosters or rules. The different types of units feel like they should in the game, pike and shot infantry are tough and stubborn. Horse is great for getting in on the flanks but they will have a tough time against infantry unless the infantry is disordered and softened up.
