The IXth Legion wasn't 'lost', it's just often mistaken for the XIth Legion (because the 'IX' on the IXth's standard somehow flipped over, becoming an 'XI', hence the confusion.)
It's true, look up the records for the XIth Legion; It's TWICE the size than it's supposed to be… ;-)
