Somebody asked me about a good way to fit these chariots into rule sets, because they behaved differently to those used by many other Ancient nations link |

I always think of all 'Celtic' chariots as the same as medium cavalry, CV(O) in the old DBM world as skirmishing but able to close with disorganised enemy? |

I always think of them as a transportation system to get dudes to the battle. I don't think they were used for combat at all. Got the leaders to the battle in time to lead their clans. More of a prestige thing than a combat thing. |

We have had Discussions on Celtic chariots before. The reconstruction of the Wetwang chariot link
showed that the suspension was very good giving a stable fighting platform so I think light or medium cavalry would be right in me opinion rather than just transport. I am searching for the video that I have seen in the past with then throwing javelins at speed but cant find it x42 sorry if the spellings haywire my dyslexia is playing up which also makes searches difficult |

In the blog post I do quote pretty much all Caesar. He's the one who has them throwing javelins. The medium cavalry concept might work, but it doesn't cope with the fact they were happy moving through woods (they knew) and seem to have been able to disorganise the enemy. |

I was reading about early Carthaginian armies' chariots this week and it surprised me how similar the description of their use paralleled Caesar's on British chariots. Maybe British chariots are not too different after all? |
