" Another modelling candidate for my heap of spare Sherman turrets was a Sherman ARV. The ARV Mark 1 is just a capped off hull, but I wanted to do the crane version as it is more striking. Once more the pile of PSC Sherman sprue came to the rescue…"

I tend to prefer the ARV based on the M3 (which is sitting unloved in my attic) the M31B1, or the M4 based M32B2 (and guess where my model also is unmade). I cannot find any photos of the ARV with the conventional Sherman turret though, they all show vertically plated and fixed turrets. Bet I will be proved wrong though.Might actually promote a response or two, to say how daft I am. Tango, I keep trying to respond to your PMs but (as Catweazel said years ago) nuthin' werks. |

It is a fun piece of work, but, as no response so far, let me risk this. There was no Sherman ARV with the usual Sherman turret. The Sherman II ARV had a very different and fixed "turret" with vertical welded plates. That was the M32B2. Later models came with HVSS of course and served years after the war. |
