Or the lack thereof. 🙄

Jill is a trained "stage combat … hobbyist."
She has a fine channel.
And she correctly guesses that the whole point of This Board is hormonal 14yo boys. As is the game she … analyzes.

Here, she gets into it.

Her TV/movie/game armor reviews are hilarious.

Redcurrant20 Sep 2025 1:53 a.m. PST

very good – she dismantles the pieces of armour quite effectively.

Armor is also fashion. Consider Henry VIII's armor and codpiece.

I think there may have been some embellishments

A lot of the surviving pieces in great condition are probably for the more famous users of said armor, and probably have a higher degree of artistic flair and embellishments. The more mundane armor is probably more practical. That was my impression when I was viewing armor in museums

Did Henry VIII actually fight in that armor, or just pose for a painting?

Jill Bearup does good videos. Her sword fights from the movies are really good. Also love her Just Stab Me Now analysis of armour.

I'll second her analysis of swordfights in movies.

Jill Bearup is great.

"14 year old boys of any age", I think.

emckinney22 Sep 2025 11:33 a.m. PST

Louis XIV she takes that into account, including specific examples that correspond to the fantasy designs.

I think that Jill would rate 90% of the miniatures posted on this board as "Just stab me now!"
🙄

Analyes it all she wants, not going to change my views on the issue.

So… So you're in favor of a "woman Warrior" wearing greaves, shoulder armor and high heels, with a bare midriff? 😄

In the future, I think I'll simply reference Jill when I see a particularly silly mini.

Jill goes after Warhammer armor.
