What are those pieces sticking out of the back of the turret? There's 2 rebar looking things and a machinegun port looking thing. Anyone know?
On closer inspection, the 2 things are "L" shaped. |

I am not 100% sure, but I think they are brackets for stowage of .50 browning barrels and additional ammo. They are usually covered in canvas in pictures. (Sherman in action: Squadron/signal armor no 16) That is if that is a T-23 turret! The other roundish thing is possibly the heater exhaust. I am sure there are experts here on TMP on the M4A1 who can confirm this or not! |

Yes, they are guards for when they wanted to stow the M2. You can see the barrel lock bracket on the far end. Damon. |
