Not just one. Many.
Russia might be the only thing that can unite Poland and Germany. "Enemy of my enemy."

Polish leaders not happy with Trump. One said Putin is laughing at Trump and the Russian attacks have only intensified since the meeting in Alaska. Yet, the promised "severe punishment" Trump said he would do to Russia has not happened.

Its being reported as "Poland and NATO " shoot down drones.
This implies that there is at least one or other NATO nation's involved along with the Polish ones. reports are that Dutch fighters were there, with Italian AWACS and German Patriot missile batteries.
There were 19 such incursions, with 3 or 4 shot down

I guess some Polish squaddies will be busy scouring fields for debris.

Russia's response as predictable as it is unconvincing.

Late into the small hours for the next week both sides' analysts will be busy assessing weapons data to see which projectiles were the most effective against which type of drone.

Grattan this whole topic could have been discussed without bringing the President into it. This is EXACTLY what I have brought up in other topics. His actions or inactions did not place drones over Poland.

If I played the games I see elsewhere, I'd say:

How do we know they are Russian? I haven't seen the intel. Why are they hiding it!?
How do we know Zelinsky didn't do this in order to try to bring NATO into the war? Using drones he's captured?
How do we know the Europeans didn't stage this? To try and bring the U.S. into confrontation!?

Yes, that IS exactly how most of you and the press have done since day one.

But since Trump didn't do this, well it of course is true…. So here is your information.

"Polish F-16 fighter jets, Dutch F-35s, Italian AWACS surveillance planes, and NATO mid-air refuelling aircraft scrambled in an operation to shoot down drones entering Polish airspace from Tuesday evening until morning, officials said."

Oh and for the U.S. members who are vehemently anti-Trump, another assassination today. But no big deal, just another MAGA and they should be exterminated like vermin!! Right??

The drones appear to have been launched from Belarus and were intended to hit Lviv, but overflew Poland in the vicinity of Zamosc.

Perhaps the Rooskies are using an AI to do their drone flight plans? It chose to go down the side of the table rather than through defended Ukrainian air space.

Does that mean Belarus is actively in the war, as opposed to inactively?

I don't think Belorus would show itself to be active- not until there was a victory parade in Kyiv, at least. Poland has closed the border with them, again, but the news here didn't say whether it was in answer to the drones or just something they did.

It has the appearance of a feck-up.

If the drones had launched from Kaliningrad however…

Eyes on to this:

The list of observers from the Global South is interesting, along with more about the Polish/Belarussian border closure.

That explains a few things, Stoppage. NATO is going to be very unhappy about the list of participant countries including India. Thanks for the link.

Good move. The preparation for the invasion of Ukraine was hidden behind an exercise.

Looking at a map I'm having trouble seeing how Russian drones striking Ukraine can accidentally wander over Poland. Even assuming they were launched from Belarus. They might have wandered over the line a hair, but they wouldn't be there long enough to be shot down.

Maybe they were using Poland as a route to Ukraine assuming no one would shoot them down there. Kinda like the Ho Chi Minh trail going through Cambodia?

Or it was deliberate provocation.

Or they were really, dangerously lost.

Andrew,

Trying a different route to avoid Ukraine's anti-drone defenses.

Well Russian Drones attacked targets in Poland. A mistake … or some sort of saber rattling ? Don't trust Putin or Russia …
