Here's my pic dump of my tour of the oldest cemetery in New Orleans.

After the history, I really wanted ideas for how to paint my tombs and crypts from Old Glory's Vampire Wars range. I think I got what I needed.

I had Family recently go to New Orleans and got me a t-shirt saying "Bury your Dead above the ground" with a drawing of the Cemetery. Nicely Creepy

The last time I saw that cemetary was in a TV show chase scene.

Seeing all those decayed tombs I couldn't help but wonder about the contents' state.

Nice! Might take a look at Barbara Hambly's "Benjamin January" books. January is a New Orleans native, and cemeteries, Marie Leveau and Voodoo all show up in some of the stories.

Let's hear it for the Faubourg St Tremaine Free Colored Militia and Burial Society!

Nice Pictures.

On our last trip to N.O. we stayed at the Brakeman Hotel right across the street (can be seen in a couple of the photos).

I sure remember Nichols Cage's Pyramid!

Hope you got to the WWII museum too.

This was also where the cemetery scene from "Easy Rider" was filmed.

There seems to be a wall around the cemetery. Does it keep people out or the dead in?
In a similar vein, some of the tombs have iron fences around them. Doesn't iron have some magical properties that keep it from being crossed?

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who stares at things and tries to figure out how to paint them in miniature. The 'brown brick' wall says it all.
