list, help.

Good luck!

Seriously, I don't think I've ever seen one. It makes sense in a country where you can wake up in London and attend a convention anywhere the next morning by car or train. But how many conventions are there a New Yorker (or a San Franciscan) will cross the Mississippi to attend?

Where do you live?

East coast has several conventions.

If I recall correctly Washington state has some, one, maybe two? California more, Florida at least two, Texas one … two? now I think, Missouri another couple, Chicago at least one. Bound to be more, I'm sure there will be others

What does Master imply. As a vendor my crew has long divided conventions into several types. I have been attending shows since 1983 as a vendor. Sometimes as many as 20+ a year.
Local is forty or less and sometimes have become game days. Booth costs are low with limited competition.

Regional shows have attendees from outside the local area with 150+ attendees. This is the most common show.

National shows have 500+ attendees with heavy competition and extremely heavy booth fees. Profits are low so other reasons are the reasons to attend.

I think the OP means "master list" of US conventions.

Doesn't exist really.

huron725 Supporting Member of TMP06 Sep 2025 4:02 p.m. PST

Yes, master list is exactly what I meant.

I'm in Michigan.

OK! Seven Years War (IN), Cold Wars (PA), Historicon (PA), Fall In (PA), Little Wars (IL), Autumn Wars (IL), Gencon (IN?) and Adepticon (IL) are all east of the Mississippi and north of the Ohio, and have web sites. Pentacon appears to be dead, as does The Emperor's Birthday, and last year's untitled Napoleonics convention in Indianapolis is supposed to be a game day this summer.

I think HMGS Great Lakes has a couple in Ohio.

What else does anyone know of Huron can readily reach?

Buckeye AKA Darryl06 Sep 2025 4:43 p.m. PST

Local to me in Ohio we have CincyCon and Daycon, the former being a larger affair of dozens of vendors and hundreds of attendees, covering a range of gaming genres (miniatures, cards, and boardgames).

Good idea!!

There isn't one.

Nowscon in Berea, Ohio on September 26-28.

Proorcon in Livonia, MI on September 27.

Con on the Cob in Richfield, Ohio on October 1-4.

Advance the Colors in Springfield, Ohio on October 10 and 11.

Fort Meigs in Perrysburg, Ohio on November 7 and 8.

Hold the Line in Port Clinton, Ohio on November 14 and 15.

Join the HMGS – Great Lakes Chapter and for the paltry sum in $15 USD a year, you will receive six printed newsletters/pamphlets, and each one will have an updated regional con list, as well as some national cons such as Fall In! in PA in November.

Huron, are we doing you any good?

jfleisher07 Sep 2025 11:02 a.m. PST

Origins in Columbus, Ohio every year

You want a list, here is an excellent one. It includes wargame conventions, but it includes more than Just wargame conventions.

DanLewisTN08 Sep 2025 9:30 a.m. PST

Here is another better list I think that is more focused on just wargames. This link is conventions that are not HMGS affiliated, but this website will also have all the HMGS affiliated conventions as well. So It should be great for what you are looking for Huron725

huron725, where in Michigan are you? There are several 1-2 days conventions in our state. At end of September is Pro or Con
link

In January is SpartaCon, in March Battlefields. Plus some smaller ones.

What games are you interested in?

Just a thought, if someone has a spare minute or two set up a google.doc. Publish the link and this way anyone can update it or add. The list would be constantly evolving.
