In 1977 the USS Blandy DD-943 tested a drone. It landed in the ocean vice the cargo net rigged between the ASROC launcher and mount 53. We had to retrieve it by small boat. We realized the value of over the horizon recon for ships without helos. Little did I know it was the future for multiple types of missions. |
