I have several squads of Winter War Finns I use to play my chosen rules set (Nuts!). About a week ago, I posted some pics of my main squad. My secondary squads are named after characters from a couple of Finnish war movies: Talvisota (Winter War) and Tuntematon Sotilas (Unknown Soldier ) – both excellent by the way. The last one is on the Continuation War – so is a touch anachronistic for my army, but many of the main characters are Winter War vets anyway – so it works. I made this to glue on the bottom of the stand for ID purposes. The number in red is their "Reputation" (3 being worst, six best) a game mechanic. The character named "Korpi" doesn't have one as he is in my main squad and his can change throughout the campaign. He is modeled after the protaganist in the movie "Sisu." Incidentally, Korpi means "wilderness" and is the root word for my TMP handle "Korvessa" which means "In the wilderness," a comment on where I live in the California Mountains.

Wow, 6's are super soldiers in Nuts!. Even 5's are awesome. Nicely done. I usually put the quality on the back of the base but that looks messy in my opinion. I like your method. |

Tuntematon Sotilas is a great book that has been interpreted for the large and small screen many times: Movies 1955, 1985, 2009, 2017; tv series 2018. Great idea to put the data under the bases. |

Tuntematon Sotilas is a great book that has been interpreted for the large and small screen many times: Movies 1955, 1985, 2009, 2017; tv series 2018. I have read both books and watched the latest version of both movies, as well as the more recent TV series (basically extended versions of the movies). And people say no main character is Game of Thrones was safe. |

Wow, 6's are super soldiers in Nuts!. Even 5's are awesome. Nicely done. Finnish Jagers are allowed to have Rep6. At least in the Eatern Front campaign book (which only covers the Continuation War). These guys are regular infantry, but if you have watched the movie, there's no way Rokka can be anything but a Rep6. He's a wonderful character. Viirilä isn't featured as much in the movie as he is in the book, where it is clear he is the best soldier in the company. It's a shame (spoiler coming) that idiotic colonel shoots him in an attempt to get the others to rally. He randomly picks a guy and shoots their best man. (Rokka is in the machine gun company, Viirilä is in the infantry company they are attached to). I tried to assign Rep numbers based on how they performed in the books/movies while still keeping pretty close to the values in the army list. |
