I'm painting some Canadians to try out Battlegroup. The North Novas were part of the 3rd Infantry Division, landing in Normandy in June 44. Soon, I'll post a painting tutorial on YouTube.

Very nice! Amusing. cause I was just reading about this unit a week ago! Chased them down online and read about their pipers and uniforms and legacy and things. I really want to check out halifax and NS in the coming year (possible refuge??)

I think it is great the way the Canadians are getting more credit for their contributions to the war effort. When I was growing up, I learned about D-Day with the three British beaches--Gold, Juno, and Sword--and the two American beaches--Omaha and Utah. Also, being American, most histories concentrated on Normandy, a few quick pages about the race across France, then the Battle of the Bulge. I knew Montgomery's army group was there on our left flank but never read much about what they did.

Which, I guess, is sort of a mini-rant, and sort of off topic here.

Beautifully painted figures, with lovely basing, and clear labeling.

Hi Piper 909, I don't live in Halifax, I'm in the Annapolis Valley. If you come to Halifax, I'd be chuffed meet up and travel to Amherst (about an 1.5 hour drive) to their garrison. I think there's a little museum there.

Beautiful painting! The bases are fantastic! I am curious about the bases themselves. Assume they are special ordered? Would you mind sharing the manufacturer? Do you have to order them pre-painted in black and pre-printed with the identifying information? It is rather brilliant!

Are the miniatures 15mm? Just beautiful paintwork…congratulations!

Or are they 20mm?

Great painting. The Fighting North Novas are a great unit to represent. For a few years, some of us who re-enact 1 Can Para also portrayed them when we were at events like DDay Ohio.

Also love your bases. Amazing work.

Thanks, guys! The bases are 2mm MDF board. The labels were made on the computer and glued to the base.

Great work – looking forward to the tutorial as I think my Canadians are not "green" enough

Excellent work, Ryan! Great painting and I love the bases and labels that you have taken the time to create.
