I got an order amounting to about $50 USD, plus shipping to the UK came to $94. USD I went to the PO did the forms and went to the window, while they were typing in the info a screen came up telling me that the customer would have to pay a further $247 USD in taxes and tariffs to obtain the order from the UK Postal Service. How can you in good conscience fulfill an order from the US to the UK. |

That's a tough one. You just have to be straight with this person. Let them know you can't absorb that additional cost. Give them the option on whether or not they want to still have the order filled. You may have to post on your website, that you cannot fill orders outside the U.S. if that is going to be the norm. This sucks for everyone, right now. if it's any consolation, I enjoy ordering from you. |

Pretty much the same shipping from Canada to the US – I paid about the same in duty as the item cost, which if I was doing this to make a living would wind up costing the receiver |

Just waiting to hear back, hopefully the UK PO have better info for my customer. Thank you, Rick, for the kind words. |

People on the site did not believe me when I sent a package to Portugal and it cost 100% extra to get it out of customs. These surcharges, custom fees or what ever you want to call them as been going on for decades. If European nations can do this, it is fair for the US to do it also. |

Something fishy here, the UK doesn't apply tariffs. It applies VAT which is 20% above a certain level (and I think includes the postage). And sometimes parcels get through without this being applied. The last few parcels of games and models that I had sent from the US I wasn't charged for. I would be inclined to ask the PO for a breakdown of the extra charges |

This is total rubbish. Either false data has been entered into the US system or they are simply lying to you or is it just incompetence ? VAT would be 20% of the cost including postage plus a collection fee that is about £8.00 GBP Why would they charge such a high shipping cost ? Have you asked for a fast delivery, extra insurance, tracking and proof of age or something ? I'm sick of hearing these stupid stories with made up figures – they may not have been made up by the poster but they are not the true costs. |

For a package under £135.00 GBP there is vat (20%) and a handling fee of £8.00 GBP There is no customs fee. Check the UK Post Office web site. Why the usa post office would add $247 USD is a matter for the usa post office to answer if it is really occurring. |
