After three days of searching for my two copies of Joseph Morschauser's "How to Play Wargames in Miniature" I ordered the trade paper reprint from Amazon for Friday delivery. Who among us thinks the already owned copies will still be missing when the replacement arrives? Who thinks otherwise? And is there anyone who doesn't think I'll be packing a surplus copy with the flea market stuff for Fall In? |

I think we have all done that. Ordering something that we already have. I know I bought the same issue of MWAN three times once. My latest is getting wrong the size of the stands I need so I have reordered twice and hope the third one will be right. |

Betting is now closed. The original trade paper reappeared three hours and 23 minutes after I ordered the replacement. (Since I have not attempted to order a replacement copy of the 1st edition hardcover, my existing copy is still missing.) |

Just remember, it'll always be in the last place you look. |

"Just remember, it'll always be in the last place you look." Actually, it will ALWAYS be within arm's length of where you last remember seeing it… ;-) |

"Actually, it will ALWAYS be within arm's length of where you last remember seeing it" Not sure about "last remember," but usually very close to where it ought to have been. About 8" seems to be common. This one was one shelf down on the Miniature Warfare Bookcase. The one before taped out at 12 3/4". |

I am strangely pleased that I'm not alone in experiencing this curse!! |

How could I buy 25 Orc Pirates at a convention when I already had 25 at home? Or order "Devil of a Whipping" from Amazon twice? Still haven't read it, and gave away the first after the second arrived. |

I have a friend who has thousands of books. He has some of them in a storage facility. He want to re=read Colonel Graham's Abstract of the Reno Court of Inquiry. He knew it was in the storage facility. He did not want to take the trouble to go get it, so he just ordered another copy. Tom |

You know Garryowen, I'd have said that's about when you need to consider selling off books in storage. I figure I've got 4-5,000 on hand--house and garage; no off-site storage--and incidents like this one are common enough to suggest I've exceeded my practical max. If I can't contrive to die in place, I figure I'll need to sell off between half and three quarters before I move to be nearer the kids. Something similar for CD/DVDs and toy soldiers. |
