We've played Quatre Bras more than once. We used my 6mm sized armies and Blucher Rules.
The game…
With time against them the French were aggressive. The advanced rapidly toward Quatre Bras while a Cavalry Brigade was sent to secure Thyle and the nearby bridge.
Wellington was initially short on troops but funnelled his fast arriving reinforcements straight into action! The fighting to the south of Quatre Bras saw French Cavalry forcing Allied troops who formed squares which were good targets for French fire.
The French Cavalry raced toward their objective but Wellington deployed strong formations into Quatre Bras, the French horse then charged units which had not deployed inflicting heavy losses on them, but they were unable to secure the important crossroads.
Around Thyle Allied units pushed the French Cavalry back securing it and the crucial bridge that linked the Allied Army to the Prussians.
At this point the French now outnumbered and with their units worn retired from Quatre Bras pursued by the Allies. An Allied victory, albeit at great cost to them.
A great night was had by all!
