Speaking of wilful ignorance, it's clear you know nothing about Ireland, or its history. I can't be bothered trying to educate you. Especially with wall o text rants. There's yer man's state visit to the UK to look forward to, it promises to be a hilarious cringefest if his previous one is any guide. Faux pas all round, embarrassment for the UK and USA. I can't wait. 🤣 |

SB never try and use logic and especially actual facts, it never works. 😉 +1 though 🤔 Didn't he come back with a trade deal, some other agreements and got in some rounds of golf? Win, win, win. |

It's got nothing to do with logic, it's all to do with American ignorance of the rest of the world. A state visit does exactly what it says on the tin – two heads of state meet, formally. In this case, Don and Charlie. Yer man's last visit to the UK earlier in the year wasn't a state visit. The wee fella's last state visit was during his last presidency in 2019, when Liz was alive. He made himself look a bit of an eejit with breaches of protocol, so there's even more potential this time. The Brit Royals seem to love these occasions and take them very seriously, because they get to wear dress uniforms and lots of shiny medals. Any more dropping of the ball by yer man will be front page news, and there'll be photos of Charles looking bemused and vaguely embarrassed. What fun! |

But YOU can make judgements about us! 😂 Since when does a true Irishman give a sack of potatoes and a pint about the UK and especially the oppressive royal family!? After that adulation of the Royals, I feel like a shot of my Connemara Whiskey and to savor the flavor and smell of the peat. Lovely area the Connemara(my favorite of the country) and it has not changed much since "himself" was there filming the "Quiet Man". "I thank you" |

Pretty funny to say that when the United States has been leading world affairs for 80 years, from WW2 to today, including creating the entire global trade and security order from the UN to the WTO and then acted like global cop to patrol the sea lanes and organize air traffic and international communications and trade. Now we're in the adjustment that should have happened in the 1990s. |

"I thank you" I am seldom accused of being too subtle, expect by complete amadáns, but it seems I have been because you have mistaken my post as reverential adulation. You have no idea how amusing that is. The fellas down the pub will be roaring when I show it them. Connemara eh? The Quiet Man was filmed mostly around the village of Cong in County Mayo, although some scenes were shot around County Galway, which is where Connemara is. I suppose the whiskey's OK if you're on a budget, but Redbreast or Dingle is a better drop. Please don't bother embarrassing yourself further by replying to this. |

Thanks for the money from Boston and New York, but you know, ancient history? |

Any more dropping of the ball by yer man will be front page news, and there'll be photos of Charles looking bemused and vaguely embarrassed. It's our revenge, since "taxation WITH representation" is working out so well. We really get our revenge by sheltering England's Royals in exile. Don't worry though. We have them relatively under control, like the Royal Navy has cannibalism relatively under control. (I see "shorts" from Suits, and there she is! Lady Princess Madam Milady deSussex!) We haven't sent any Kardashians over, have we? We've only sent Rosie O'Donnell to Ireland, and she's well past her shelf life. |

Been to Cong twice. Went around to the other side of Connemara and sat on the Quiet Man bridge, which is obviously not in Cong. Visited multiple other sites of the movie. Went to multiple other areas of Ireland, all except Donegal. Never went to Northern Ireland on any trip. Spent too long in Dublin the first time and did not go back any other time. Only place in Ireland I do not like, but where we flew in every time. Only positive there was my first Guinness in Ireland at The Brazen Head and a bowl of stew. Visited many other Pubs, too many to name. Kyteler's Being one of many. Your tea, bread, fish and chips and stew were great. Your coffee sucks, tastes like Nescafé. 🤮 The people, outside of Dublin, mostly wonderful. We love the music, which is one reason for all the pub trips, that and to eat as well. The Pubs all unique. We liked Adare (sp), Cliffs of moher, the Rings and much more. Lastly, Redbreast is ok. Did not try Dingle. But tried all others, including visiting one Killbegan. Could not talk a bar tender into a free shot, anywhere. They will talk about the whiskey all day, but nothing free. Unlike Mexicans, who I can talk into free shots of tequila by talking about the product with some knowledge. Connemara Is smoother and has the peat infusion. Oh and isn't cheap here. 🤔 Must be your tariffs. 😉 All and only the outdoor scenes were shot in Ireland. All indoor in US. Sadly the Pub wasn't there during the shooting. That was done afterwards, according to what I was told while there. Now get out and go have a pint and a shot. |

Thanks for the money from Boston and New York, but you know, ancient history? Don't forget Wilkes Barre. I had a pest at my favorite bar (the Knights of Columbus, back when I belonged) who went around taking up a collection for "the lads over the wire", or something like that. I'm not sure whether the cash he actually collected actually went to that source, but… "Yes. I'd like to make out an International Money Order to the IRA…" |

Now get out and go have a pint and a shot. In Pittsburgh, that's an "Imp and Iron". Or used to be. |

This government is raising taxes on most people. Worse, the tariffs are stimulating inflation for a double whammy effect. It's my money, I work hard for it, Im sure most of the good members here do as well and I don't think it's the administration's job to make our lives more expensive to pursue some vague, emergency as an excuse to cause global economic chaos and alienate our allies. Striking down the tariffs was the right decision by the appeals court. After all, if everything's an emergency, then nothing is. |

🤔 my taxes are down, my investments are excellent, my fuel costs decreased, my borders secured, illegals are being sent home, i don't see near as many "help wanted" signs as just 2 years ago. I even paid $2.19 USD a dozen for eggs last week. I can list more if you like.

Worse, the tariffs are stimulating inflation for a double whammy effect. Where? Where is this inflation? At 2.7% it's the lowest its been since the COVID crash, lower than anytime during the Biden years. |

You know, what TACO is dismantling before our eyes. |
SBminisguy | 31 Aug 2025 1:03 a.m. PST |
Nope. You're seeing an attempt to escape the Sallust Trap. The US should have adapted at the end of the Cold War, but instead we ran on autopilot and agencies and interests once restrained by the existential threat of the USSR ran amok, grifted with determination and attempted to assume control. The Cold War regime no longer applies, we need a reset..the US is no longer "benefitting" that much from a trade and policy regime designed to keep US allies' economies strong at our expense to keep them from Soviet influence. |
