SYW to be precise.
Suddenly, I have been given 100+ 28mm figures that I have decoded as being Austrian SYW frontier troops. Pandour, Grenze, Hussars and even more irregular troops. They're mostly Old Glory.
I already have AWI Hessians, Brunswick and French (?🙄) that can proxy as Prussian frontier forces.

I just got an Austrian Osprey on their forces.
I can't find any specializing in Prussian. Recommendations?

I could also use a book specializing in the "kleine krieg" frontier fighting. Recommendations?

I'll probably use for rules my Sword and the Flame modifications for FIW. No rifles, carbine ranges for muskets, rate 2nd class Regulars as Egyptians or Dervish, 10-12 figure units, no stragglers, etc.

Thanks in advance.

Did you already look at Kronoskaf ? link

For information about the Prussian Light Troops:

wouldn't they also be fighting with Ottomans?

I already have Prussians for them to fight with.
Ottomans would be a financial hit that I don't want to handle.
All I want, at this stage, is Austrians and Prussians.

So far, this has been a zero sum investment. If anyone wants to donate FREE Ottomans, PM me and I'll give you my address.

There's not much out there that I know of. Helion have Light Troops in the Seven Years War ( link ) and Infantry in Battle 1733-1783 ( link ). I haven't read the latter, but the description makes me think it's likely concentrate on the close-order infantry. Hollis' Osprey on the Grenzer is mainly about equipment and uniforms, but does touch on tactics.

If you like I'll ask the Kronoskaf crew if they can recommend anything. Vlad (no, not that one) has a particular interest in the Grenz, and may have some sources. How's your German, Serbian and French reading ability- or are you just interested in English-language texts/articles?

I last "studied" German in 1971, French in 1968. My skills are nonexistent. 🤷
So, English only, please.

Th ranks, Dal. I just ordered the Helion book from ABE books. 👍
It seems just what I'm looking for.

I haven't got that one myself, John. Would you mind posting a quick review when you've read it? I'll ask the Kronoskaf mob if there's anything they can recommend.

If you have Google Translate on your phone then you can get the gist of what a text says, even if it's in that horrible Fraktur font. It's not perfect, but it's much easier than using memory and a Langenscheidt translation dictionary.

It's reviewed on the Fife and Drum site.

Excellent. I'll go and stare at Jim's electrons. Thanks, John.
