WSS has launched its annual wargames survey.
I think they have improved the questioning in terms of options/focus.
I am pleased that they have not included any questions that force responders to pick from a select list of rule sets.

I am also pleased to see it is about miniatures rather than various other related activities.

It is of course a choice whether to do this survey or not, but it is the only one I know of.
I like it.

I agree, I have done it and found it surprisingly 'relevant' as opposed to a contest between products.

I found it too tiresome to respond, gave up after 5 minutes.

Pleasure.
I assume the more of us that take part will make the survey better

Do you live in a rural or urban area?

Neither. Like most Americans, I live in the suburbs, so this question needs a third option.

I've participated several times now, over the years. I don't register, however, as I get enough spam email, thank you. LOL! Cheers!

Thanks for pointing me to this, Martin.

I did the survey, few choices I thought were weak in options but tried to pick closest to my situation.
At least 1 questions in point, I live in suburbs as well.

I consider the choice "Urban" closer than "Rural". The cows are a few miles away from me! 8>).

Interesting, in Oz urban means not rural, and includes suburbs. Vagaries of the language :)

Thank you. Done. My usual whine about mixed categories. The huge number of painted figures, being mostly 6mm will never see the table size given, for instance. I wish they'd work a little on that.

nsolomon9921 Aug 2025 8:00 p.m. PST

Improved list of questions this year I thought. Useful service to the hobby.

I couldn't get past the "Gotcha"!

"Like most Americans, I live in the suburbs, so this question needs a third option."

If you live in a suburb then the answer is urban. No need for a third option.

That's a long survey, but we ned data to grow the hobby wisely. I mean, it could happen.

That seemed relatively good, not too long, and I agree regarding the "rural" or "urban" question could have used a third option of "suburb".

Thank you for posting!

On growing the hobby, did see lots of young players at Historicon, hope it continues

I took it. I like reading other peoples perspectives. Especially when it comes to the number of painted miniatures.

Whenever an unknown number starts out with "Eello, John. We're conducting a survey…." I hang up. Rudely, if possible.

I enjyed it :)

Volleyfire24 Aug 2025 8:25 a.m. PST

Rural in my book is anywhere not in a town or city. Suburbs are part of a town or city, therefore urban. I've never heard anyone refer to the suburbs of a village. Not in the UK anyway.
I've done the survey every year its been out.
